MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
Used in the manufacturing process of many products including: animal feeds, baking powder, bleaching powder, carpet backing, cosmetics, fertilizers, floor tiles, glass, paint and varnish paper pharmaceuticals plastics. rubber, sugar, textiles and toothpaste.
CHEMICAL INDUSTRY
The chemical industry uses very pure limestone in a number ways. including the manufacture of ammonia. calcium carbide, calcium chloride, caustic soda, soda ash, sodium bicarbonate, sodium dichromate and lime.
NEUTRALIZING ACIDS
Limestone is an alkaline agent with the ability to neutralize, or partially neutralize strong acids. It is used in Water Treatment System and in neutralizing of Soil In farms due to the acid rain.
CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Particularly in cement plants as raw materials through the process of Calcination in which raw materials react with each other at high temperatures.
IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY
Calcite or lime is used in the steel industry because of its flux action which allows it to lower the concentration of impurities in the steel.
POWER PLANTS
The lime reacts with the CO2, releasing a large amount of heat. This energy can be used via heat exchanges for generating steam in power plants.
